I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and an Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University. In addition to being a psychotherapist, I also teach about the art and science of psychology, supervise student therapists, and conduct research on psychotherapy processes. I care about promoting the science of human behavior in order to improve lives in all kinds of settings and circumstances.
My specialty is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This revolutionary psychotherapy helps people relate to the suffering in their lives in new, creative, and productive ways and to reorient toward activities that are meaningful, honorable, and personally worthwhile. It is nothing less than a truly invigorating and enriching technology with an impressive and continually growing body of supportive scientific evidence.
I provide individual psychotherapy for many kinds of psychological difficulties. See my Acceptance and Commitment Therapy page for details.
I also provide Acceptance and Commitment Training in the form of group workshops. See my Training page for details.
